About a year ago, when I was about to rejuvenate The Nepal Digest(TND), I had asked few very loyal readers of TND that what kind of ezine they would like to see TND develop into. Most of the adjectives were "bold", "thought-provoking", "free/open", and "non-political, non-religious,". One exceptional demand was also to be "humorous". Being humorous is tricky. However, in this issue of TND, there are pieces which are really humorous and yet so powerful and meaningful. They outline nation's entire scenario - present and future. TND is taking steps to be also called a 'humorous' ezine.
"Elections will be held after the creation of a security situation." ........ "We get good publicity in the outside world by kidnapping an important person like you."
Thank you for writing about the Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy in the last issue of The Nepal Digest. We really value your support. Let me add something to your highlights. We few parents are involved in parent organization working in Nepal for general public awareness ...

1. I am currently in H4. If some employer wants to sponsor me for a part time job (around 20 hours a week), can I go ahead and do so? Does H1 have to be full time only or can it be part time as well? Thanks. 2. .... 3. .... 4. I am on Optional Practical Training after my graduation. It expires on July 2004. I want to go to Nepal for a short visit. I was concerned if I am able to come back to U.S and resume my work and am planning on joining the Masters' degree. What are my chances of getting a new F-1 visa from Nepal or from Canada or Mexico even I still have a valid I-20 and letter from my employer?

We need substance and that should accommodate varying and often conflicting interest. National interest should prevail at any cost. In this context, some degree of flexibility is needed on the part of political parties. It is not a time to seek credit, it is, on the contrary, a time to make contribution and sacrifices.
Prime Minister Thapa inclination seems to be to act decisively and strongly, though he has granted reasonable dicretion to ministers to get on with their tasks as long as it is evident that they are in line with agreed policy. Thapa has strongly urged his cabinet to adopt collective responsibility.

This deceleration is known as 2000 millennium deceleration, which has eight goals and eighteen targets. Unfortunately since then, more money is being spent on the wars and war related activities than on the poverty reduction.
Why are some people in Nepal so vehemently opposed to all involvement from the Americans? Is it a xenophobia that has dogged it's people since the time of the Ranas? Or do they see us as another India in the making, a beligerent and condecending power that dictates local goverence for our own aims?

King Gyanendra remains determined not to yield to the five parties’ demands. At least this is what could be concluded from his silence on the country’s ever deteriorating political and security situation.
A superb beginning for Nepal and Cambodia, the first two least developed countries (LDCs) that made it to WTO by virtue of accession. The fifth WTO's Ministerial Conference on 11th September 2003 finally approved the text of the Protocol for Nepal's entry into the WTO. The protocol of accession contains terms and conditions for the membership of WTO, and the schedules of Nepal's commitments on market access for goods and services.
Language, in any form in any clime or country, is a vital supplementary creative force of the mind. It is one of the forces that have sustained the role of mankind as superior to all fellow creatures. Drive away the language from ones community and human is reduced to the stature of a chimpanzee.

Oppose HR 2688, a bill introduced on July 9, 2003 by Representative Thomas Tancredo (R-CO). This bill seeks to eliminate the H1-B visa program. If you agree with the contents of the following letter, please e-mail them to your Congressional representatives.
The King is in no mood to accommodate the agitating political parties who have been demanding restoration of the parliament and the formation of an all party government to meet the current crisis. The King has come round to the view that neither the restoration nor an appointment of an all party government would settle the issue finally as there would continue to be internal squabbles over leadership and sharing of power which in turn would add to political instability now seen.

We are deeply concerned in today's Nepal's political turmoil. We need peace and we need democracy. People are the foundation of democracy. We need to make our civil society stronger and more responsible in order to restore democracy and peace in Nepal.
The profile of this disease can not be raised enough without public awareness and advocacy. We cannot raise funds without awareness. Without funds there is no research, without research there is no treatment options, without options there is no cure and without cure there is no more hope for LIFE. Without supports at individual level, we can not work and help our children.
Nepal has launched a series of major changes to its aviation policy, including a degree of international liberalisation and the probable restructuring of state-owned Royal Nepal Airlines into separate international and domestic operations.
But why are these fools ready to kill To see our nation's existence cease. My pride, my nation is on the verge of collapse 'Cause no way out could be found when inmates attack.

A plot of land, of area 147,181 square kilometers between India and China, now under an extraordinarily democratic ruler, extremely rich culture, and 100% literate population is on sale. A lot of water resources. A lot of minerals. And a lot of cheap labor is available.
