How India has become a global leader in information technology

India, a nation with a rich cultural heritage and centuries-old history, has emerged as a global leader in information technology (IT) in a surprisingly short span of time. As the world moves towards the digital era, India has emerged as a pioneer in the IT industry, providing cutting-edge technology solutions and highly skilled talent. How did this subcontinental country manage to achieve such prominence in technology? Here we examine the key factors that have contributed to India’s transformation into an IT leader.

Education and human talents

One of India’s most valuable assets is its vast, highly educated and motivated human talent. The country has a world-class technical education system that includes renowned institutions such as the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). Every year, thousands of engineers and IT professionals graduate from these institutions, forming a strong human resource base for the IT industry.

Outsourcing and Offshoring

Economic liberalization in the 1990s allowed India to open its doors to the global business world.
